Patrick Swaney

Patrick is the author of Hand Over Hand Over the Edge of the World (YesYes Books, 2025) His poems have appeared in Boulevard, Conduit, the Indiana Review and elsewhere. He is an associate professor of English and writer-in-residence at Catawba College, where he teaches courses in creative writing, literature, and composition.

He specializes in poetry and twentieth-century American literature, and has edited and worked for multiple literary journals, including New Ohio Review and Ecotone. In his creative and critical writing, he is interested in poetic strategies that acknowledge and negotiate the gap between the world of the poem and the world of lived events.

He grew up in Michigan and lives in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
